Strange electrical problem
On my 72 last couple of days the right front blinker starts blinking all by itself . No other indicators blink . It’s the hazard switch on the column as I fiddle with the knob it stops . Last night it started around 10 pm I pulled the hazard light switch at the fuse box it stopped . I have pulled the hazard fuse too so no juice is going to it . I have a NOS switch but it’s the red button type will it work on the shorty tilt it has the black knob type on it now .
Anyone ever seen it just illuminating one turn signal?

Re: Strange electrical problem
Turn signals self cancel after a turn . Problem is the hazards which are a completely different circuit. And only one lamp illuminated.

Re: Strange electrical problem
The hazard switch has four contacts in it that are made from formed sheet metal. Maybe one of the contacts is bent and is contacting when it shouldn't.

Re: Strange electrical problem
I’m going to pull the wheel tomorrow look for any damage to the contacts . The four contacts would make sense that if one was damaged it would only actuate one lamp

Re: Strange electrical problem
I believe the contacts are as follows:
1) On/off pulsing 12V coming from the hazard warning flasher. 2) Right front turn signal 3) Left front turn signal 4) Rear turn signals via contacts on the turn signal switch when the switch is centered |

Re: Strange electrical problem
What I was going after was a broken return spring in the wrong place, but if they are working correctly...
