Thumbs up The wife now has a truck!!!

We bought a 56 GMC short fleetside for her last night. I go to pay for it this afternoon. I made the deal last night at the rink while my son was playing hockey True Canadian deal eh
For pics you can look here
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...threadid=80658

The entire powertrain including the welded in front clip, engine, tranny and rear end are out of a 73 Nova. That ugly steering column is from a 76 Malibu, so as you can see we have some unmolesting to do

Congrats! Ought to be fun if your better half is thinking about converting it to 4x4. Has great potential what ever you do with it, definitely needs some unmolesting!

yeah it does. I started a discussion about frame swapping in the 55-59 forum and a fellow member swapped his 55 Panel onto a Blazer frame without any mods done to the frame itself. So we may look into doing that, or might look at dropping it on a 67-72 shorty frame and lowering it

I've made a promise to Tim that not $1 goes into it before his truck is done..but I'd sure like to get it into the shop and start looking it over! I want to take the dash bezel out and customize it to my own likings to start with!

Bob

This is what I found out and posted it on my topic about cutting frames and insurance

" just called them and they said as long is an MPIC body man inspects the welds and approves it, there should be no problems with a safety. So it looks like everything should be good to go as soon as I have one of the body guys I know come have a look see"

So as long as the welds are good, she'll pass

With all the talk about Rat Rods, I say do something different with it. Put a set of roadster fenders on it and some pod mounted headlights. Primer everything, and your done...
