Well we got a lawyer into it now....
The Insurance comapny finally gave me a quote on the truck. They offer to give me 1100 dollars. I said....thats unacceptable sir. And told him I would be in contact with him soon. Then ihung up. Our lawyer told me I need to find EVERYTIHNG i can to prove the value of my truck. So far I cant find a decent web site to see wat mine is worth. The insurance company goes buy the NADA guides....and i went there printed out the value of my truck and gave it to them..they siad that, it was wrong....that that was way over priced. I said..this is a dam clean truck....wont find another like it anywhere...esp with that color. So i need yalls help guys. I need some links..some help on finding the turck and any helpfull info on this matter. My parent wont let me talk to them anymore in fear me saying something wrong..so I am back here trying to gather info. And trying to find proof of the value of my truck. Everyones seen it i think if not its in the Stickie for truck of the month, and the list of mods in below in my sig. Any helpw at so ever will help towards getting the money i deserve to fix my truck. Thx alot guys!!!

Collect all your recipts, you said your paint job was really expencive well then get the papers for it and prove it. Same with any thing else you have done. Then Re check the NADA listings to make sure they arnt screwing you there, and listen to your lawyer!

Thinking it would be a good idea to get a real nice truck appraised before a accident ever happens just for this very reason. Insurance companys have way to much leverage. A person could call the insurance commisioner before getting a lawyer. I have done this before seemed to get the insurance companys attention. When a person doesnt have full coverage they almost pretend you dont exist when you have a claim against them. Insurance companys and banks only look at the blue book value. To them a 99 escort is worth more then a 69 camaro go figure.

I asked the question before in your other post....Is the insurance company you are dealing with your insurance company or is it the lady who hit your truck and ran?
It seems to me her insurance company should be the one, but if she is uninsured, I guess it would then fall to yours. Your lawyer should be contacting the lady who hit your truck, if her insurance company is giving you the low settlement. Keep us informed....

Man, I got 1300 for some lady putting a small dent in my fender/door. Sorry, I havent been paying attention to your posts and how things are wrapping up, but do they want to total it?
Reciepts are your friend. Have an appraiser come down and look at it, talk to him. Its such a complicated game you have to play. Ive done it twice now, but everything works out OK in the end. You really have to jump through hoops.

It is her insurance comapny..not mine. Tommorow I am going by 2 used car lots to get it appraised. 1 is the our local Chevy House and 2. Is where i bought the truck from the start. I think....that its will pan out just fine. Been prayin alot about it and I have a good feeling. If not then....thats life u kno....But that doesnt mean i wont try my hardest to get wat I need to fix it. So.....we'll wait. Tommorow's the big day lol. And trust me....I really relaly doubt the lots will value my truck under 4 grade. With wats it got....and the interior w/ that paint job...its a 1 of a kind. Atleast in this area I kno that for sure. So...I feel good about it.
r0lf-- yes they did total it....thats a for sure. I did get a lil to rough with the insurance guy though i think lol. But I mean..wat would u do when u got a truck like this and u get offered 1100 dollars.....I was really about to go postal. lol

i got $2000 for my truck last time i got in a wreck.. 2 yrs ago. Of course it was with a major company (Southwestern Bell Telephone). So if they were only willing to give you $1100 sounds like they were low balling you.. and your truck is WAY nicer than mine was...

Did the lady who hit your truck also leave the scene of the accident? Isn't that hit and run? If so, thats against the law, isn't it? Maybe you should take her to court via Texas Justice!
Now that you have a lawyer helping you, the insurance company may offer more to stay away from litigation, especially if their insured is involved in a hit & run. Make sure any settlement covers your lawyer's cost too. Good Luck!

insurance companys will low ball you to death. most will not move uintil you get a court date the settle just before you go in for trial. I have a good friend who is in insurance and she say's that is company policy right or wrong to give the min unless you make a case of it. Good luck.

Man its gonna be tough. To be honest with you I dont know how you can do it now that its wrecked. I got my Truck appraised as soon as I got it since I asked the Insurance agent how much I would get if wrecked..they told me BOOK VALUE ..no more. UNLESS.....I got a certified appraisal. Which I did. this was for $30k before the wheels/tires/engine etc. Every reciept for this afterwards will count towards the value of it if anything ever happens. You have to make sure and ask questions ahead of time. If you like I can find a copy of my appraisal if it will help to balance out the lowball offer they gave you.

Dave is right, when I purchased my sons truck I had a certified appraisel stating how much it was worth. And because the appraisel was higher than the "book" value I had to purchase GAP insurance, insurance to make up for whatever remained on the loan if the truck was stolen or totaled, even if it was not his fault. If I were you I would look up an appraiser in the phone book and call them for a certified appraisel. I believe you have enough pictures to establish that your truck was in good shape to get a fair amount. And the person that hit you, you could take them to court for damages that (their) insurance company refused to pay, that will get their attention real quick - nobody wants to be sued!!!!
Hope it works out. Tom

If My memory is correct (and sometimes thats suspect) the policies say fix or replace with equal value. If the truck is , or was, very nice and I am right, have them replace with one just as good.
