Tilt Colunm / Wanted
Anybody have a tilt colunm for 70-72's automatic they wanna sell? or trade?
Don't need the wheel but if it's in perfect shape would take that too.:p Color's not an issue for the colunm but would want black for the steering wheel. I have the better part of a front clip for trades...tailgate and a truck gas tank. How about a brandy new dual diaphragm booster w/master cylinder still in the box? I even have door's...anybody wanna trade for some door's? Oh yeah, I have a really nice 72 inner and outer grill I could trade also...let me know, thanks. |

best bet is ebay but they seem to go for 250-350 bucks, if you want a good deal I see people pulling them from juck yards occasionally

U Might want top consider a tilt from a Van as they are so close a match that the little extra effort is well worth the $100.+ additional cost for an original truck tilt. They can usually be had for about $100. on the board or $75. in a yard if you pull it--take about 15-20 minutes.

I should clean out my collection of van tilts... how about $133 a piece delivered within Canada and the US lower 48 states... got three if there are more than one taker. I'll do worldwide too for adjusted amount.

What exactly needs to be done to modify them? Is there any welding involved?

Good question BT, I was wondering the same thing
Depending on the "things that need to be done" I think I'm interested in one, Rod Does the $133 each include shipping? |

Yah the 133 was shipping included. I have done the swap myself to making it work for trucks but these ones dont have that done to them. Its not so tough really. I'll include a wiring adapter to make it fit to our style horse shoe wiring plug and they all have cruise signal levers too.

As long as you're mechanically inclined, it won't be too bad, GMC Paul has a great tech article on his site, but you have to take the intermediate shaft off your old truck column, and shorten it, and then put it on the new van tilt. Adjust the wiring (sounds like Rod took care of it for you) and install. Took me about 1 hour.
Good luck

Which part is the intermediate shaft? The end that bolts to the rag joint? How hard is it to adapt this into a floor shift column? A lot more work? Thanks, Jeff.
