Engine Mount/Tower Question
I need to get a new engine mount. One without a huge hole cut in it I've heard there's a number of different kind of mounts. Could someone tell me what specific kind I should be looking for. The truck has a 402 in it right now.
Thanks!!

I think that is a small block tower, and the hole was cut there for manifold clearance.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the stock 68 - 71 big block tower dip down right there for clearance? |

Longhorn Man, You are right. Those are small block towers and exhaust manifolds are the reason most people cut them.
tomsC10R, The big block towers are what you need. Wether or not you use the 68-71 or 72 style depends on what you can find. The 68-71 can still be purchased from GM, but require a 3 piece motor mount to go with them. It isn't a cheap way to go (about $400.00 with all new parts.) The 72 style is a lot less expencive, but has been discontinued and are harder to find. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Longhorn and Wes,
Thanks for the info. I guess I'm looking for two now I've been told that I ask too many questions... Why do the 67-71 engine towers need 3 piece engine mounts?
