return fuel line

Just replaced my stock fuel pump with a Holley mechanical fuel pump. Do I need to plug off the return line or have it vented in some way? I replaced my stock pump before with a gmpp pump but after a little bit of driving the truck would act like it would run out of fuel and im worried that my new one is going to do the same thing
