What should I pay for NOS 15 x 8 6 lug rally's?
A local salvage yard in the Minneapolis area here has a set of NOS 6 lug 15 x 8 ralleye's for sale, with rings and caps (4x4) for $350. I think that price is way too steep! I think the most those wheels are worth are $200. Am I wrong on this? I was thinking of just walking in there with $200 and tell them to take that. The wheels have on the shelf for ever a year. I've been keeping my eye on them and the dust just gets thicker and thicker on them. What do you guys think? I'm just going to get them powder coated black anyways, I could care less if they're NOS but I want some wheels that are in mint shape. Unless someone has some good ones in here they're willing to part with.

I have a stepside with the side mounted spare and I gave $150 for a set of 5, with trim rings (no centers). The local tire shop says he could get a set of four new ones for $200-$250 (I assume they are reproductions).

IMO, make the $200 offer and if they dont' take it, find them elsewhere. Just my opinion though!

That's what I say!!! You know these places never even pay half of what they're trying to sell things for! They always find some poor guy that's dumb and buy the parts for $20, then sell them for $400. These wheels have been sitting there well over a year, I would think they'd take $200 for them.

I would expect around $100 to $200 for a good used set. Since you say these are NOS, if they are truly New Old Stock and have never been used, then there is no telling how high they are worth, but a true NOS set of wheels at $350 is a steal. Since you are just going to powder coat a set, wait til you find a set for much cheaper... Or, buy his set, and sell them on EBAY and use that money to get your rims and powder coating...

I had to pay $100 for a set of real center caps (2 wheel drive, metal), new trim rings were $60. I paid $20 per rim, so...
I wouldn't go over $250 Powder coating after I bought them was $50 per rim. good luck, Scott

Since the wheels will have to be sandblasted before powdercoating anyways, I am assuming you just need rims that are straight and true?
I have an extra set in my garage, $120 with no caps or rings. I live down near Rochester, but will be making a trip soon to the west side of the cities, near Annandale. |

SOUNDS CHEAP! You would pay $80 for new rings, close to $80 for just the center cap decals to put on your faded used set, $20 each wheel to sandblast an old rusty set so you can have them painted for another $20 each or more to have them painted on top of $100 to $250 for the going rate on used set of wheels which seldom has good rings an center caps.

I can get a set of Wheels by Unique (who makes the steelies for American Racing) 15 x 7's that look like this in a 6 on 5.5" bolt patter for $32 a piece at Discount Tire Co. I just question the quality of these wheels.

I can get them for dealer cost + 5%, which is dealership parts man employee price. A new set of 6 lug rally wheels with new caps and rings and all the jewelry is almost 600 dollars.

I think that you are correct. I have a set that were taken off a new vehicle in the 80's, they came with rings and caps and lug nuts. The only scratch's on the original paint is from where the rings were taken off twice. I bought them about 12 years ago and paid close to $200 back then. I still have not come up with a 6 lug vehicle to put them on. I saw a set that was in almost the same condition as mine at a swapmeet a while back and they had rings and caps and the guy was asking $200. I felt that this was resonable price. So I would say that $200 is a great price for a very clean set. Most people don't want to pay a whole lot for these but a good set is worth it.

I've bought them complete with rings and caps in great condition for $150....
They are offered here on the board once in awhile for that price... Only the shipping would hurt the price...

IMO, If its what you truly want and need you will not be satified with anything else other than those nos ones.If they are truly NOS then 350 is really not out of line, especially with rings and caps included in the deal, Offer him less about 250 ,however go in knowing that his asking price is reasonable.

Could you powder coat them black first before you sell them?

Hey 70c10,
I have a 68 Long Bed Fleetside just joined the board last month and saw your trucks picture, Mine also is blue and I would really like to see a full posting of yours if that's possible. I'm learning as I go along and I think you guys on this board are great for helping each other out. Hope I can do the same.

Further to stay in thread content, I also will be looking to buy a set of Rallies. Mine appear to be original 15 steel with aluminum caps and stainless rings

NOS? Don't you mean OEM? NOS means they've never been used, still new in the box (new old stock). I wouldn't pay $350 for a set of junkyard rims, I can get them all day long for $200 a set.

OUCH!!!! I guess some states just have higher labor costs than others or something.
I got my rallys blasted for $32 for all 4. I painted mine, about $8 for the paint. But, our local powder coater charges $15 a wheel, any color. My control arms were also $15 each. Good to live here I guess..at least when it comes to needing something powder costed

Randy, they ARE brand new, I picked them up tonight for $250, with new rings and caps. The caps and rings are made in taiwan however but the wheels are NOS. I have the boxes they came in and there isn't so much as a mark or blemish where they've ever been slipped onto a lug even. I figured for $250 I couldn't go wrong. Now I know I have something that's not bent and never been on a truck. Hopefully I can steer the thing now with my manual steering They had another set of those wheels still in boxes incase anyone else in here is interested. I got them at French Lake Auto Parts in Annandale, MN. They had a sign of $400 on them when I went in and I said "I know you've had those on your shelf for over a year and I'm about to make you an offer you can't refuse" I started at 200 but he said he had $250 in them. I almost walked but they just looked to pretty to walk away on at that price. He gave me 4 trim rings that measure at 3" deep and 4 CLOSED center caps with no stickers on the ends of them. Now I can pick out a cool sticker Caps and rings are made in Taiwan but the wheels are NOS like I said.

Now Shawn will have to add dust to another set of rims to put up in the rack. Every once and a while you can get a good deal out of those guys.
