for the 67-72 crowd
I thought you guys might like to see this. I got these photos from GM, and as you can see, there is a 72(?) in a few of the pics. The truck next to it appears to be a 1:1 scale clay model of the bodystyle I like. I would like to know what year the other truck is, it would give me a better idea of what year the photo was taken. SO if you know...

looks like a 72 and a 73 to me, that COULD be a 71, but the mirror appears to be mounted on the windsheild.... in 71 it mounted to the top of the cab (see left side of below pic to see mirror mounting on cab, 3 holes in a triangle pattern)

Those are full size clay models? was that pretty common practice?

I am thinking that it is a 1972 since there is no black band around the outer grill. The only two things that I am aware to differentiate the 71 and 72 are the mirror mounting as stated previously and the band around the grill. (Unfortunately, no one makes are true 71 aftermarket grill and most like myself like the grill without the band better!)

1971 Chevy Grille
Here is a picture of my truck on the day that I bought it and another one of how it looks now. If you notice in the first pic, there is a painted black band on the outer edge of the grille on the "front" side of the grille but not on the side/edge that touches the hood and fenders. In the second pic, it is an aftermarket grille that is truly for a 1972 since it does not have the black band. But trust me, I am okay with that. I like that look better!!
