Long fleetside to short fleetside
These pictures were posted by someone on this board. I would like to talk to the person that did this work...I have a couple of questions.

I've got an extra bed...and an extra frame so I think I will just start hacking...love that sheet metal work. I think I will "z" step the front, step notch the rear and tub it. Another project that I really did not need to start...LOL!

I thought that this was supposed to be nearly impossible with the gradual decending of the upper body line That guy makes it look easier than eating a bowl of Cheerios Can someone shed some light on this?

The finished product with a primer will tell if it is a success or not! From what i understand it is hard to keep the sheet metal from warping and being mis-aligned. Is this is "impossible"? No! I figure it just takes more patience than me! I cheated and just went a bought a short bed!

I have an extra long bed so I am going to try this. It will take awhile since I have too many projects already but I will post pics and let you know just how easy it is. Silvertongue...it is like cutting a section out of a cone...the ends don't line up on the bottom or top. I measured mine a couple of years ago when trying to determine how to do it. Once sectioned it is off by about 1/2 inch on top and the bottom. I thought I would have to add a pie section into the body line just below the top of the bed edge to make it look right. It looks like this guy just forced it into place...we will see!

Well good luck with that! I will be watching. Keep us posted. I've got a long box too. If yours goes well, maybe I'll get ballsy enough myself.

when my and and i did my 67 it was originally a lwb fleet truck, we talked to a local hotrodder about shortening the sides and he said that it has been done but it was fairly difficult because of the body lines, we decided against it since we werent going to do it and i didnt wanna get bent over with a huge bill so instead i decided to go with a stepside...that guy that did the one in the pics above sure has some skill
