Dip Stick Very Hard To Put Back In

After checking the oil, it is near impossible to put the dip stick back in. it seems like it keeps catching on something... I have to keep working, twisting, and poking for about 5 to 10 minutes until I can actually get the dip stick back in. Any suggestions?

Regards,
Garry

Some of my vehicles are picky about which way you put it back in. If it won't go in one way, turn it 180* & it'll go. You may be able to reshape or slightly bend the tip of the stick & get it to work better.
