'86 K10 fuel lines & pump

The tank line doesn't line up well at all with the inlet on the replacement fuel pump I installed on my '86 K10 (305). Is this normal? It looks like I'm going to have to have a big hose loop in order to connect the line to the inlet without pinching or collapsing the hose, or possibly fab an intermediate piece of steel line and use hose stubs to attach it to the tank line and the pump inlet. Any thoughts here? Thanks!
