Ashtray question...

What is supposed to hold the ashtray closed on my '77 Truck? I have owned several 73-87 trucks and all of them had ashtray doors that always stayed open. This is one of the mysteries in life that I need to have resolved....

Once identified, where do I get said part?

Thanks,

they are supposed to have a pair of springs that hold the door closed. Once they slip out of place, they are a PITA to put back in place. The easiest fix I have found is to score an ashtray assembly at a pick a part.

No, he has to hold it up.

Seriously, Jonboy is correct about the cause. These things are also a dime a dozen at yards.
