700r help

my buddy just rebult his tbi in his 87 chevy 4x4, it has a 350 700r4 and a 208 case its half ton. after he rebuilt his tbi the engine runs great now idles fine and everything. but the transmission dont shift until its at a higher rpm than before and when it does shift it shifts really hard <chirps the tires if your getting on it>. are there vaccume lines or a wire or something that may be loose that would cause this? he was in and out of the engine compartment working on this could he have broken something? the fluid level was fine nothing made any weird noises or anything. i had to leave so we didnt have anytime to check anything out and his back is out so he cant really look himself. thanks

stan

Sounds like the TV cable is either not hooked up or is out of adjustment. I would check that first.

TV valve could also be a little sticky. Check adjustment first and if that's ok, then with the engine off, mash it to the floor as hard as you can real quickly about 4 or 5 times. That will 9 times out of 10 unstick it, might take more than one try but usually not.
