Who's done the DJM 5" rear flip kit install?
I just got the kit...not a lot to it. I've used BellTech flipkits before.
Any tips on this DJM install? Thanks, SC.

Check for clearance with the DJM spring plates. I had to do some grinding on mine to the required clearance. I think the interference was with the shock on one side. I have had mine on about 18 months and I forget the exact point of interference.

I insatlled one on my 1980 2WD Blazer. No problems at all. Also Belltech drop shocks and C notch by me.

I helped with an install using the stock spring plates and with a good titanium bit it was cake and was way cheaper than buying the deluxe kit.

It says to take the bolt out of the center of the leaf springs and put it in reverse.... you dont have to do that. (At least not on mine, 85 C10) as long as the nut fits inside the hole on the bracket it is fine. -if you can make anything from that poor explanation
Like BeaterC10 said, You may not be able to get the nut on the bolt for the shock extender, being so close to the leaf springs. |

I've only done the western chassie flip kit, very easy install. Just new plates and u-bolts as far as I remember...

I bought a AIM kit about a year ago, and it was junk. The rear is flipped and the new spring plates are installed, but there is no physical way to install the shock bolt without removing the spring. I went on to another project, but will be back on it soon to either make it work or remove the kit and buy one that fits right. I've never had a problem with a Bell-Tech or Western kit, so I guess you get what you pay for.......
