Help
Its time toget rid of the old long tail three speed that came with my 62 c10.
I am looking for a four speed that will let me keep my hydro clutch set up. Any suggestions? |

you can use a t5 five speed from an s10.

That was quick! Does this take alot of mods? Can I keep the rear end or do I get one from an s10

You should be able to keep your rear end,depending on the ratio;the S-10 will have a slight overdrive 5th gear. Also keep in mind you'll have to have your driveline modified to fit(different length and different yoke),and you'll have to use a clutch disc that fits the S-10 input shaft splines and has the right diameter. (I believe you have to trim the end of the input shaft slightly and change to a different pilot bushing,but I could be mistaken on that.) Depending on what seat you use,you also might have shifter clearance issues.If you're already running freeway gears,you could use a 4 speed;I have a saginaw 4 speed(like they used in the mid 60's Impala etc.) I'm planning to sell. It's nearly a bolt in,but won't have the overdrive and you'd still have to modify your driveline to the correct length and get a shifter. BTW-the Saginaw uses the same yoke as a T-350.
