Check out the cool trailer hitch. That thing was welded on the frame by the previous owner. That had to go.

Installing the custom made C notch so he can get a little lower.

Re: 70short/step's 4 link install PICTURES

Dude you do awsome work! Cant wait to drive it home with the new 4 link installed! And now with the C-notch I can lower it so it is level! So glad to see the trailer hitch gone too! Get some rest tonight! You deserve it!
Thanks, Perry

Re: 70short/step's 4 link install PICTURES

He will post more pics as progress continues. I was there late yesterday and from the cab back I couldnt tell it was MY truck anymore! If you look closely, in one of the pics you can see the front of the custom frame he is making for the cab that is sitting next to my truck. Here is a link to that project. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=148950

Re: 70short/step's 4 link install PICTURES

what is the purpose of building the box for the 4-link front mount? wouldn't it be better welded directly to the frame? there may be an obvious answer to this for 67-72's, but i'm not familiar with them, so figured I'd ask.. just out of curiosity

btw.. GREAT work so far!!

The rear subframe on a 67-72 is wider right above the rearend, I also used 1/4" plate for the C notch which made it even wider. If you mount the bracket to the frame the 4 link hit the frame, and the frame has a curvatue that you would need to compensate for. If you didn't do this your parallel 4 link wouldn't be strait. We are also going to run the coilovers on the 4 link axle bracket so we needed to move it out so we would have enough room.

Re: 70short/step's 4 link install PICTURES

Well today I finished one side of the 4 link. I didn't have much time becuase it started to rain. This was after I just got off the phone with Perry saying how it wasn't raining. Open mouth insert foot.
