Re: Gotta quik Question for almost everyone
my 83 shortbed until very recently had the inline six with a 350 trans with lock-up converter. 15-16 mpg tops on the highway. not sure what the rear gear is , never checked. just put in a 350 in place of the six. i am going to have to rebuild the 350 so i cant give a mpg comparison as of yet.

I've got a 67 with a 250 cid and a 3 speed. Average highway mileage is in the range of 13-14mpg.

Re: Gotta quik Question for almost everyone
Yeah I had an 82 with a 250 and sutomatic with 2:73 rear gears. It seems to average 10-11 around town and 12-14 on the road, but it never did a lot of that. I would imagine your combo will be close to that depending on what rearend they put in it. I believe those years the 2:73 was the standard gear for the 250 engine in the early/mid 80's (so called gas savings), but I haven't looked at the specs in a while.
