Engine Driven Compressor?
can anyone tell me if they run one of these with there setup and where the hell can i find one that'll work with my truck.......as of right now i am gathering up all the things i need and then i'm gonna bag my truck...i have a 67 c-10 shortbed fleetside with a 327 in it. the setup i am hoping to go with is 2 polished 5gal tanks with 8 smc 1/2" valves and lines kp notch and 4-link....slam specialties bags all around,digital switches anddi forgot what else...i could either go with two az compressors or an engine driven one. Are there any problems with an engine compressor, or am i better off with going with electric compressors? Are there any companies out there that make an engine compressor like this for my truck? thanks for any advise or help!!!!

You can look in junkyards and get one used that's still in good condition. Look for a York 210. Those units work great and you can usually score one super cheap. You'll just have to fab up some brackets yourself, or check with suicide doors.com or Airlift for some. I think they may have them. The compressors are just A/C units. In the A/C use they get lubed from the refrigerant.(closed system) To use them in an open system you have to be sure to check the lube system often or you will burn up the motor. You will also have to be sure that you pull the oil blown through the compressor out of the air going into your system. It is not big of a deal to get a system working you just have to take care of it to be sure that it will last.

once you go to an engine driven compressor expecially with 2 5 gallon tanks you wont even think about an electric compressor the fill time on a engine driven are awesome! you can go with a york or a sanden 508 or 709!

The york compressors have their own oil supply, that why you can use them as a compressor. They don't rely on oil in the refriderant. What you are looking for is a compressor that has an idependant lubrication system. I used to have on one of my 4X4. Worked great when airing uo 40's.
