Rear brake disc conversion??
Hey guys, I tried searching for something about the conversion, but didnt find much. I have a 70 C-10 with 6 lug drum hubs. I want to swap the rear hubs out for a 5 lug disc brake setup. My question is, is there an inexpensive way to do this? Can I utilize axles from something else that will accept disc brakes for the rear? If not, can I swap the axles out to 5 lug drums, so I can mount my 5 lug wheels? Thanks.

Re: Rear brake disc conversion??
1971 or 1972 axles will work.

Re: Rear brake disc conversion??
So the 71 or 72 axles will only work on a drum assembly right? If I wanted to go to rear disc, I would have to buy a rear end that was already set up that way correct?

Re: Rear brake disc conversion??
Others have brot up that some late 70 axles are the same length as the 71-72 which are 3/4" longer and should not be used on the 65-70 narrow housing. A cheap way is to turn the flanges down and re-hole for 5 lugs --disc kits will work. Here are 3 threads. Of course you could change out the whole housing for a 71/72 or with fabrication -- a later model - maybe one with rear disc.
