Soft top
Another topic...I have been seeing a couple of blazers with the soft top. Any idea where a guy can get one of them?

Re: Soft top
Specialty Top Company makes both a Fastrac and Snap-on top. Just search the forum and you'll get plenty of opinions and pictures. I have a Fastrac and love it.

Re: Soft top
Can't wait until Can-Back comes out with 1st gen models. 6mo-1yr though. By far the best looking one I've seen. Almost military style how it rolls up all the way around.

Re: Soft top
They were recently purchased, let's hope things have changed. I'm moving forward with a custom bikini to get me by.

Re: Soft top
They are in the process of moving to Phoenix. I went to their website and filled out their questionair. http://www.can-back.com/. I told about how there are a few people on this website and ColoradoK5 that want this product and have hopes that the new owner would consider making it. I suggest that everyone else do the same!

Re: Soft top
There have been several groups that have tried to get CanBack to build a top. They've been saying they have one in progress for at least 6 years now. One board member (not sure if it was here or CK5.com) went to the factory and talked to them directly. They basically told him they have no true plans of building a top for the first gen blazers and Jimmys. There isn't enough market for them to invest the time and resources.

Re: Soft top
I can certainly understand their bottom line thinking. But I also would think that with modern auto-cad type equipment, that cutting the material for these tops and stitching together should be a dream. Investing in one good donor top and careful measuring and data entry and you are there. My goodness...... everyone and their brother is designing one off wheels and such. Shouldn't be the night mare they are thinking.

Re: Soft top
I'm sure they are looking at the cost vs what they feel they can sell a top for. Who here is going to pay high $ for a can-back top when you can get one of the currently offered STC or Bestops for around $600? If you really want a canvas top, go to an upolstery shop and ask them to build you one. I just wouldn't hold my breath for CanBack to build one. They've been saying the same thing for years and many guys were holding off buying a top for quite a while until the truth came out...

Re: Soft top
I filled out that same form a week ago as well. They did say they get very few requests for that top (1st gen). This individual replied back to me.
