Bed floor question
I have a question about replacing a steel floor with a wood floor. Its probably stupid but do you replace or take the steel floor out when you install a wood floor? What else is required to do this? I know it may be stupid but I am kind of new to these trucks.

Re: Bed floor question
The front piece of the bed against the cab is different on a wood bed to accomodate the wood flooring , also the under bed supports are different.

Re: Bed floor question
Can you buy the supports? Do they just attach to the frame or what?

Re: Bed floor question
Yes, I bought a complete new wood bed, it's all sitting here in my office, 2 bedsides, front piece and all four under bed supports. When I finish my truck I am going to put a nice "show" Oak bed together.
Under mounts attach to the bed and to the frame. They are different that the steel ones because they need to accomdate for the 3/4" oak floor. Your bedsides will work just fine. GMC Pauls has everything, call ask for Les!!! Last edited by ChevyDude; 06-10-2006 at 09:05 PM. |

Re: Bed floor question
I could go outside and look at my steel bed but I'm being lazy on this hot Saturday afternoon so I will ask instead.
If the front bed panel has to be changed to allow for the thicker bed wood why do the bed sides not need to be changed? ![]() Last edited by TugOwar; 06-10-2006 at 09:13 PM. |

Re: Bed floor question
i think the lip is the only difference on the front panels. You can buy an adapter piece to use a steel panel w/ wood floor.
