hydroboost
Does anyone know what the fitting sizes are on a 2001 1/2 ton GM hydroboost.
And what type of fitting is used ie.. oring at end of fitting or IV flare type. I need to make some custom hoses and it will need the fittings. I don't have the original hose to look at. What I'm doing is putting it on my 58. I have a 2001 silverado 1500 4 wheel disc hydroboost and master cylinder. The auto parts places here say the hoses are not available. Thanks, Last edited by dwcsr; 06-11-2006 at 05:44 PM. |

Re: hydroboost
You can have custom hydraulic hoses made all over.

Re: hydroboost
I know I can have them made but they all ask what size fitting do I want. I went to the junk yard and looked at one and the ends are o-ring type and those fittings are meteric only as far as I could find. One side is M18x1.5 and the other is m16x1.5 so I ordered one each and we'll see if they fit.

Re: hydroboost
May be showing my ignorance here, but what is a hydroboost and how does it work?

Re: hydroboost
its a brake booster that runs off the power steering pump. its great for low vacuum engines. At idle I have about 12 inches of vacuum so I wouldn't have much in the way of brakes in traffic or low speeds. Its that black cast iron unit behind the master cylinder.

Re: hydroboost
Summit is selling hydroboost conversions now, not sure how much more expensive they are compared to the salvage yard...

Re: hydroboost
quite a few different GM models had them. Astro vans, anything diesel, and of course trucks.
Mike, I will call you this week end. Steve |

Re: hydroboost
Ok Steve, give me a call. I'll be at the Toby Keith concert in Raleigh Sat. night if you can call me before 2pm, or call me Sunday. I'm really interested in the hydroboost setup. I remember you telling me about the 3/4 ton pickups and diesels, just needed some years to look for.
