Headlights
After about 1/2 hr with my lights on they start to flash on and off. The oncoming traffic loves this as there must be a cop ahead!! I'm sure there is a circuit breaker type fuse some where. The rest of the lights (dash etc) are not affected. Is it on the light switch itself? Can it be changed or is it time for a new switch?
Thanks in advance for the help and Happy Fathers Day to all the dads. I'm off for a round of golf with my 12 year old. Brian

Re: Headlights
There is a thermal type breaker on the light switch. When you look at the switch it has a set of points on the top. Thats the breaker. It could be bad or you have a bad connection somewhere making the load on the switch higher than normal. Things to check would be dimmer, the switch it self, headlight connectors. If you leave the lights on and they start flashing the bad connector should be warm or hot if its a connector.

Re: Headlights
I was thinking the same thing as dwcrs hopefully it's just a loose connection somewhere causing the the breaker to overheat. I had a simular issue with my 1978 and all it took was me taking the headlight plugs off and on to clean up the connection. Good luck, let us know what happens with it.

Re: Headlights
Was poking around under the dash thinking I'd replace the headlight switch but it looks like a new one already. It has a fuse instead of the old style breaker. Still not sure what would be causing the headlights to both go on and off.

Re: Headlights
Have you messed around with the plugs on the headlights at all?

Re: Headlights
Have not looked at plug for headlights. I thought the flashing of headlights would be the circuit breaker on the headlight switch going on and off. But since there is a new switch there with a fuse should it not just blow? What would be causing the lites to go on and off??

Re: Headlights
Well the headlite switch seemed to be getting quite hot so I replaced it. Also cleaned the area the switch makes contact with behind the dash and no more trouble. Did a 2 hr drive in the dark and no more flash...
