Anyone know how "new" Blazer fillers are put on the tanks?
I bought a new Blazer tank, and I want to replace the filler with my stock one, since it will help with the routing of the filler hose.
The old filler tube was soldered and bolted on, I removed it without any trouble. I took the new one to the radiator shop so they could remove the new filler and install this old one. They couldn't get the new one off. I brought it home and tried and I can't get it off. Are these not soldered on anymore? It almost looks like a copper color underneath, does that mean it's brazed? Is there any way to get this off, or should I just forget about it?

Sounds like silver solder to me. Stronger than solder and melts at alot higher temp. It will come out, just alot harder to do.

It's at Dakota Service, we will see what they figure out. The guys claimed he wouldn't have any problems, the two guys that I talked to are "car guys" so I have faith that they will figure it out. It should be done tonight.

Yeah, they're pretty good over there, from what I remember. If they can't get you straightened out, that sounds like the type of work that would be right up the alley of the guy I used to have do radiator work. He was kinda semi-retired when I was there, so he may not still be around, but his shop was over behind the new Casey's (old Dairy Queen). He's done some work for me on heater cores and such that I didn't think could be fixed

The Dorn's bought Rudy's shop, Maggie's little brother Andrew does custom car work out of that shop. Rudy still sells new radiators out of his house though.
