Body Shop Woes

I've been patiently waiting for my body shop guy to re-establish his shop so he could finish my truck. I've recently discovered that the guy sold the parts of my truck that he had in his storage trailer, so my perfectly mint interior door panels, tail lights, and various other NOS parts are probably in the hands of someone else by now. If anyone has heard of 'super deals' on blue door panels for a Sierra Classic with Manual windows from Maine or New Hampshire, they might be mine! Now I'm stuck with the task of finding replacements for all the stuff that was stolen. If anyone knows of a source for decent replacement panels, please pass it along. I have Chevy Duty and LMC catalogs, but I'm not sure if there are better sources out there. Needless to say, I'm glad I still have the truck in my possession or he'd have probably sold that too! (Albeit half done). He'd better hope that the cops find him before I do!

Regards,
1987SierraClassic (Half of one anyway)

I sell those for $185 for the pair + shipping:
http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/merc...tegory_Code=DP

I also have (but not listed yet) Palco door panels. They only come in black and have to be dyed to match, but all of the factory stuff will bolt onto them. With the coverlay, none of the factory stuff will bolt on as its "appearance" is molded into the panel.

I'm thinking that he needs to get the parts that you need. There is no need for you to be doing his legwork for selling your stuff. If you are waiting for this guy to get back on his feet, then you will be disappointed in the long run. He has forked you hard and you are waiting for him to continue? I would be twisting his arm and looking elsewhere for body work.

I think the guy sold his stuff and split and thats why he stated" i am just glad to have my truck back" i might be wrong but that is what i got out of the post. Eather way that really stinks

Re: Body Shop Woes

Thanks everyone for co-miserating! I thought I'd share my woes with folks that would feel my pain!
Well, the guy that owns the storage facility where my parts used to be said that the cops can't even find this guy and his parents have disconnected their phone. I'm planning a visit to their house, but if the cops can't find him, I doubt that I can. He'd better hope that the cops find him first. I thought about a small claims suit, but if he can't be found, what good does it do? The owner of the storage place said I could go there and look around. I doubt I'll find anything, but at least it'll give me some 'closure'! Oh, did I mention that my battery got stolen while my truck was stored? Ugh. Can't win! It's really sad that this dude has a drug problem...he'd make a fortune in the body shop business...best work I've ever seen...but, at any rate, I'll have to look around for some decent OE panels. I've taken great pains to restore the truck using OE stuff where I can. My local GM dealer doesn't have to ask me what truck I'm looking for parts for...they have it already typed into the computer before I get to the counter!

If I find this guy...I'll post a picture of his liver on a stick....

It gets better, right?
