Dana 20 Transfer Case--Any Good?

Is the Dana 20 transfer case any good?

Did all 6 cylinder Blazers and Jimmys with 4-speeds get one?

Re: Dana 20 Transfer Case--Any Good?

The Dana 20 was standard on 6cyl and 307V8 equiped K5's and Jimmy's. I don't know if you could get a 205 in them with the smaller engines. The D20 is a good T case though nothing wrong with it, in fact it has a lower low range than a 205. It's just not as heavy duty as a 205. My Dad had a CJ-5 with a D20 and a very powerful 360 AMX engine and it was just fine.

Thanks! I was looking to buy a 6-cylinder Jimmy with a 4-speed (and probably a Dana 20) but it looks like the seller is not serious about selling.

Re: Dana 20 Transfer Case--Any Good?

My 70 K5 apparently had the Dana 20 mated to a SM465 and originally a 350. When I bought the K5 the Dana 20 was gone but the floor shifter ring is different than what I see on the NP205 equiped trucks and K5's so I'm pretty sure it did come with a Dana 20 originally. Plus when I installed an NP205, I had to make some spacers to drop the transfer case crossmember to allow the NP205 to fit properly.

Re: Dana 20 Transfer Case--Any Good?

Wow, 350 M465 and a D20. I have never seen or heard of that. But now that I think of it the 205 was the optional T-case so maybe it didn't automatically come with the 350??
