Drive swap info
Hey guys, and I need help with converting my 87 K5 blazer 4x4 to 2wd. I been reading your post on how you change the crossmember, spindles, suspension, etc,. I was wondering cant I just purchase a later model full size blazer or even a 67-72 full size and just use the old frame and keep my 87's body. I would like to slam it on bags and put 22's on it but im not a mechanic. So i need a technique that would be more simple than so much fabrication.
How about even a chevy shortbed pickup? Would it bolt up with some simple fabrication. Belive me I now that when it comes to fabbing on any project its never simple, but this is not my first project that I would need someone else to do all the work.

Re: Drive swap info
its a lot easier to go from 2wd to 4wd. you will need to get the 2wd steering box and susp. you will need to drill out the holes on the side of the frame but the ones on the bottom should be there.
a shortbed frame is still 10"+ longer wheel base. |

Re: Drive swap info
So I shouldnt buy a 2wd blazer and just switch the new body to the used frame with the entire drivetrain?
