lowered trucks..what headers you got?

looking into headers, after a search theres alota discussion without a clear answer.it seems 3/4 chevelle headers are popular if you can find them.i'm leaning toward dynomax ceramic coated that swoop back with rear exit.anybody running those?and do you like them? keep in mind my a arms will barely clear a cow pie.

Re: lowered trucks..what headers you got?

What engine? I have Hedman Elites on my big block. They don't seem to hang too low, but I have not driven the truck yet. I'm not sure how vulnerable they will be to speedbumbs and such. My truck is lowered 3\4 with Belltech spindles and shackle/hangers. See link in my sig for pics.

Re: lowered trucks..what headers you got?

I have Dynomax headers with Jet Hot coating on a 350 smallblock with th350 tranny and they hang pretty low but with my 4/6 drop they should clear most roadconditions!
Unfortunately i havenīt driven my truck with them because thereīs much more to do to it!

Re: lowered trucks..what headers you got?

Hey boatpuller....Truck is lookin good.

You might want to look into Stans Headers (Stans Headers)out of Auburn, WA. I have had them on both my 80' 4x4 w/350/350 and this 78' low rider w/350/4sp. They are great headers as they have a ball & socket collector that NEVER, I repeat NEVER leaks and they also tuck up tight to the bdoy and have tons of clearance. I don't have a really good picture at this time but you can see the collector joint just behind the tire in the fender well. The are far higher than the A-arms.
Sorry for the big pic but it shows the header collector better....If you want some better pics I would be happy to oblige you

Re: lowered trucks..what headers you got?

Even in this shot without all of the body panels and added weight you can see the headers/exhaust do not hang down...

Re: lowered trucks..what headers you got?

It ALL depends on how 'low you go'. I have an 84 truck with a 3 1/2 inch drop in the front and a 4 inch drop in the rear and I am running Cyclone (now Dynomax) ceramic headers, with a 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. I did not set the truck on the ground, due to wnating to handle higways at speeds greater than 55 MPH. I like the ability to be able to move around without dragging the ground every time i go over a dip at 80 MPH. My system has been in the truck for a good number of years and has been all over the country and in many states with trully lousy roads. It works great and the headers have stood up weel to the test of time.

Re: lowered trucks..what headers you got?

I am going through the samething right now, just finally got tired of dragging headers on the highway. I have ordered 3 different sets in the last week, all returned because they are too low. The next set I am going to order are these. I kind of wish I would have found these first. I just can't afford those Stans Headers. Too much $$$$ for me.

Re: lowered trucks..what headers you got?

Don't know about the "Elite" series. I did try the Hedman Truck headers, sent them back. No different than the FlowTechs I have now.
