Nice job, not an easy task.

Re: Sectioned x-member 1 3/8"

I highly recommend installing the crossmember & test fitting all the steering pieces before painting anything.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Sectioned x-member 1 3/8"

i don't see there being a problem with fitment or clearance issues. This x-member was sectioned an 1 3/8" to avoid such problems. I have a buddy who has done a few of these now so it should just pop right in. I have already takin care of the steering linkage. Either way, if i have to do a lil grinding here or there, its nothing a lil paint won't cover up later. This one's just going on my winter beater anyway.

Cool. I just wanted to express that there is a possibility even @ the 1 3/8 notch. That's what I cut mine @ & there was interference. I thought I would be conservative since most people I had heard that did this went 1.5". But when I turned the steering throughout its arc, the tie-rod ends hit the lower a-arm u-bolts after I trimmed the c.member lip.

Even after cutting the u-bolt, it still would not clear. I had to shim the c.member down 1/4" to get clearance. Now it will turn lock to lock w/o hitting but it is pretty close (1/8"~1/4"max).

If I do another one, I won't go more than 1 1/8".
