What type of bag for the rear?

I am thinking about putting bags on my truck, and am trying to figure out which bag to use for the rear. We put bags on the back of my dad's 01 full size and when we bought the kit, it came with the standard convoluted(I think?...they have the two squashed balloon shape) bags. Then we decided to buy the airride kit for the rear and it came with the sleave type.

My question is which bag do I need for the back of my truck? If I use a convoluted, do I need the 2500 lb or the 2600 lb? Thanks for your help!

Both will work but the 2500# dbl. convoluted style bag is recommended for 64~72's.

The convoluted is best for the rear. I would go with 2600# bags all around, front and back. I've got Slam Specialties RE7 in my truck and love them.

I have Firestone bags on my heap ... 2,500 lbs. on the rear & 2,600 lbs. on the front.

If you are putting them on a 68 with the trailing arm suspension go with the 2500# springs they will provide plenty of lift capacity and give you a good ride quality. Typically the sleeve style are only used when you are placing the airpsrings directly in front or back of the axle. They give you more lift but have a lower spring rate than the double convoluted springs which will give you a better ride quality in that location. On the trailing arm setup you have a mechanical leverage against the spring location and thats what helps make the double convoluted spring work better there.

I am trying to find a place to mount water traps. I have seen some that run between the compressor and tank, but that doesn't make much sense to me. I would think there is a lot more water build up in the tank with air sitting, so I want to run a trap between the tank and valves.

My valves aren't mounted to my tank, so I have room to put it in. It's just a matter of mounting location right now.

you're right. the moisture forms in the tank from the heated air coming from the compressor cooling off in the tank creates the moisture, so your water trap would work better on the line going from the tank to the valves.
