tubular suspension upgrade
I am starting again on my old 65 chevy short wide. I already had put in dropped spindles, front disc brakes, converted it to 5 lug, bagged it, and put in some cpp c-nothches. now it is time to do the tubular upgrade...

Do you work for ART? I noticed the ridetech in your ID and your location was Indiana. Is the ART c-notch their own design or is it outsourced. I had heard a lot of people had trouble making the CPP notch work and was curious if this notch was any better. Is the ART notch available seperately? If so what's the cost? Looking forward to seeing your project come together man!

Is this an "advertorial" post? There are lots of people who'll be interested in seeing your build-up progress... either because they are interested in the ART product, or simply because they are fanatics of the hobby. If you're here to sell stuff, you should be up front about it to start.

First off let me go ahead and get this out of the way, yes I work for Air Ride Tech. as well. I know Chase is not trying to push or sell anything. Just like the rest of us he likes to show off his toys! He has been working on his truck for quite a while and making good progress I know none of us can wait until he gets it finished. And yes the C-notch is our own design and we make it in-house. You can purchase is separately just give Chase or anyone here a call and we will assist you the best we can.

Yeah the Camaro forums are just a little slow today. (Like Tony) to keep this really short (again like Tony) I have been in the background on here for awhile, just decided to get in on the fun! As far as answering the phones, I can multitask!

sorry for the late reply, busy weekend... jeremy answered well, i do work for air ride, but i am not trying to advertise... i want the best stuff I can get my hands on and i like to show it off a little. my old trailing arms were rusty and worn out so i went ahead with the full kit. I actually had CPP notches when i first put the truck together, but I couldn't get as low... the ART notches have a bag mount built on them already and have a slighly deeper notch. now the truck sits lower and is all tubular. also the front end is going tubular, because it corrects the front end geometry, and for the simple fact that my stock arms are also worn out... they need new bushings, balljoints and are allitle rusty. I'll keep posting pics. the suspension is not all i am upgrading.

Looking good! Since you have experience with the CPP notch and the ART notch do you think that the ART is a better fit? I have read about a lot of people really having to work to get the CPP notch to fit like it should.

the CPP notch worked but it fit more like a universal notch. it left a gap around the notch becouse the contour of the frame was different than the contour of the notch. when I took them out, i cut my holes larger and the ART notches bolted right in. i started the front bolt first and then used a c-clamp to pull it tight in back. the contour matched much better. also if you are going to bag the truck, the ART notch already has a bag mount on it, the cpp notch doesn't... all in all i prefer the ART notch.

Question about the center link between arms... what does this do that wouldn't already be accomplished with the rearend mounted? It obviously ties the 2 arms together, and allows for semi-independent up/down movement, but the rearend already ties the arms together, and since it's a solid axle, it will define (inhibit) the up/down movement.

Do you have a better picture of the notches? You said there were bag mounts on them, but I guess I don't see that.
I haven't installed my CPP notches yet, but it didn't look like there were going to be any issues with fit. If there is, I would like to get some of the ones you are using. |
