What did you get done? 1/7 N2TRUX is late edition!
Since N2TRUX didn't get his weekly update thread out and I grew impatient, I thought I would post up for him.
I finally solved my oil cooler woes. I solved them of course by installing a new Hayden oil cooler. I had a very small issue turn into something much larger and this was the outcome. I also got some 'blings' on my wife's Durango. I have always liked the Dodge 20" RAM wheels, and I think they compliment the 'D' well. Not to mention the extremely low cost since they are just take offs from an 05. Anyways, hope you guys had a good weekend!

I got a tranny installed and a good part of the engine put back together.
Still have install the valve train, front accessories, carb, exhaust and a few incidentals before this one sees pavement again.

Re: What did you get done? 1/7 N2TRUX is late edition!
Well, I worked Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 1-9:30 so I didin't do much of anything other than sleep. Most of y'all know about what happened Saturday night so I won't go in to all that here.
Today, once the wrecker got it to the house I hosed out the compartment with soapy water (after removing the air cleaner and sealing off the carburetor) and I gutted the burnt plugwires and distributor...well... top half. Rest of this last week before I start school Friday will be spent scrubbing and cleaning as well as figuring out what the heck to do.

Re: What did you get done? 1/7 N2TRUX is late edition!
Thursday I figured I'd get my cowl hood sanded primed and painted since it was collecting dust since this summer. It had a real bad reaction to some free clear coat so Ive had it sitting and the stocker on. Got it painted Friday night came out real nice but of course the paint store never matches the paint worth a crap.
I worked all Saturday fixing a few of the poor snow driving mistakes people had made in the last couple weeks. Ive been dealing with these customers insurance company’s all week and just got authorization for repair for all of them Friday. This week I hope to get most of the cars out of the shop so I can get some more painting done to the new doors and fenders Ive had sitting for nearly 2 years now. Also I hope to get my tailgate prepped sometime this week.

Re: What did you get done? 1/7 N2TRUX is late edition!
I finished the fuel fill on my GMC, welded a door into the outer boxside to replace the door I'd put into my wheel tub. I was quite concerned about trying to pass inspection with it that way, now the hoses are totally out of harms way, and ready to rock and roll!
Also re-installed my GMC's interior, and polished the snot outta it, its almost looking decent again, less my .22 rifle scarred door panels, and brutally cracked dash pad, lol Also buttoned up a ton of smaller odds and ends under the truck, such as tightening body mounts, my front bumper, installing shocks, and bleeding my brakes. Only things left to do is to swap the TBI heads on, and a new EFI cam in, and get an 88+ steering wheel for it. Then I'm basically ready to put the thing on the road for next spring. I've got a new cab, and front clip I'll be doing the bodywork on over the rest of the winter. Hopefully I'll be ready to put the prepped body parts onto the truck next spring, and drop the NV4500 in, then maybe, just maybe get it painted before fall

Re: What did you get done? 1/7 N2TRUX is late edition!
Dude it sucks living in western Canada because vehicle prices are so much higher here than anywhere else. I would say we pay 30% more for new vehicles and even more for classic trucks than our American friends. The average price of a good 67-72 Chevy shortbox is between $15-$20K. I paid $11K Canadian for a running, newly restored stock 56 Chevy stepside shortbox (only to rip it apart). Which brings me to my update: got my camaro subframe installation done this weekend!

Started engine assembly for my buddies truck and drove mine to town. And did a few burnouts along the way.

Nothing truck related here. I got a new lawn mower and looked at and test drove a new Corvette I'm going to get one this spring but have to sell one of my trucks.

Re: What did you get done? 1/7 N2TRUX is late edition!
did not do anything this weekend, rained pretty hard.
I did however, finally get the right spindles in today. Went to my inlaws, he's got a decent sized shop. Started tearing apart my front end. I got the pass side spindles springs and lower control arm off. That upper is a beyotch. I will leave it til tomorrow, then start on drivers side. Then maybe I can get the a-arms to blast/powdercoat and get new bushings and balljoints put in. Then maybe by next weekend I'll have it done. If my wheels show up this week. |
