info on a 59 gmc

not trying to sell this,,just wanting info...now this truck is a 59 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck..lwb fleetside...my friend has it completly tore down,,has the original frame sand blasted,,painted..but left it as a rooling chassis when he did it..threw away the orginal inline 6...anway the body needs the usual pieces replaced,,cab cornors, floor pieces,,the front fenders are not to bad, except around the headlights...bed sides were in good shape last time i saw them,,but he set it flat on the ground,,so not sure on if it bent up the sides or not...i do know he has already rebuilt the front end with all new parts,,or has the parts to do it..
if i try to get the truck,,i would rather put the body on a newer frame. would it be better to take the original body mounts and put on a new frame..would like to put it on a 1/2 ton frame...probably around 73 or so to get disk brakes and power steering...
is it worth selling off the orginal frame and other parts...or just scrap them..i would just take them to a local junk yard that deals with mostly old stuff, so it wouldnt get crushed...
just wanted some info on what you all think the truck would be worth,,no i dont have pics..i just know he is getting tired of the truck..i dont know why people get projects like this,,tear them down,,then never get around to putting them back together..he did the same thing with a 68 road runner a few yrs ago,,but at least he kpt the motor from the road runner...

Re: info on a 59 gmc

Why not leave it on the original frame and put a MII front end or camaro clip on the front. Everything else is available to up grade the frame/ drive tran. Power disc trans/engine mounts. Look thru here at the work the guys have done with the original frame.
Fleetside would look good done over....

Re: info on a 59 gmc

Yeah what he said....

I think I would be easier to upgrade the frame with modern gear than to try and start mounting things up to a different frame. I know a guy who put a 55-59 on a 70 frame and the engine ended up sitting so high that the hood will barely close.

If you buy the truck and decide to go with a Mustang or Camaro front end and want to sell the rebuild parts for the original front end let me know.

Lots of sheetmetal available for this truck, front fenders, doors, patch panels.

Best of luck...

Lots of upgrades available.

As for price, does it have signal lights? If so the front signal lights are probably worth more than the truck!
