Are they drop spindles????
http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/IMG_0701.jpg
Can you guys tell if im using A DROP SPINDLE with these pictures. Dont wanna z it 4 inches if im runnin a stock spindle when i could go to a 2 or 2.5 inch z? Im that low in the front probably due to running no cups and just lettin the bag sit in the lower control arm bolted underneath. http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/IMG_0700.jpg http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/IMG_0695.jpg http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/IMG_0691.jpg http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/IMG_0690.jpg http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/IMG_0689.jpg |

Re: Are they drop spindles????
I snuck in behind the tire and I measured from beside the bottom bolt on the back with the diaper pin in it and measured up to the center of the spindle and its about 3/3/8's of an inch. It says GM-T AND UNDER THAT IT SAYS L obviously for left. So im dealing with a stock spindle. Right. Id say the gm gives it away.lol
Just wanna make sure cause ill z it still but with a smaller z if i get 3 inch drop spindles on there ill need a 2.5 rather than a 4 inch Z. Runnin 26.0 diameter tire. |

Re: Are they drop spindles????
Yes, that is for sure a drop spindle. Notice in this picture where you can see the back of the spindle is about 2 inches above the lower ball joint. If it was a stock spindle, it would be at the bottom.

Re: Are they drop spindles????
It really sucks if they are drop spindles cause im gonna have no choice whatsoever but to zd this stupid thing 4 inches. Thats how far the bottom of the frame rails are from laying out when the truck is bagged out. Seems to me though that lots are doing 3 to 4 inch z's. A little more mods with A 4 inch compared to a 2.5 i suppose. And im only running a 26.0 inch diameter tire too. I thought if they werent drop spindles that would be why my frame rails are so high off the ground and sounds like they are so seems to me everyone who has a 73-87 who trims the bottoms off the frame and airs out there bagged chev is 4" inches off the ground before the z. Guess math tells me that before i trimmed the 2 inches off the bottom i would have been 2 inches closer than i am now.

Re: Are they drop spindles????
My guess is the GM stamped on the spindle is so you know it's for a GM, not a Ford. Some sort of an identifier like FD for Ford, or TY for Toyota or something.
What bags are you using and how are they mounted? Do you have a lower cup that you can trim so the bag sits deeper in the pocket? |

Re: Are they drop spindles????
my bags are slam specialties and they are mounted to sit right in the lower control arm with no cups. There is a plate on the top. I.F customs does alot of that kind of placement for the bags, not the best way for them but hey.
If its a drop spindle i see that you said they put it on there as an identifier but i cant see that happeneing. Like would belltech put gm on there spindles if there shipping a spindle to a gm truck. Or would djm put ford on there spindle if its going on a ford truck.. It has gm written in 2 spots on the back and then a serial number as well. |

Re: Are they drop spindles????
It IS a drop spindle... the GM markings have to be an identifier the manufacturer of the spindle uses... GM is NOT the manufacturer of that spindle.
