Truck shaking horribly
I just swapped in a D60 in the place of my old 44 front axle. Ever since the swap, my truck will shake out of control when i hit a bump. its so bad that it feels like the axle wants to rip out. I have replaced the whole tie rod, drag link, king pins stuff, wheel bearings, calipers and rotors, etc. if i put another stabilizer on it, the shake will die down alot... but it wont go away. what could it possibly be. i never had this problem with the other front axle. And i have the same wheel and tire combination as i did before. I am so confused.... and im getting very frustrated. I need help. thanks guys

Re: Truck shaking horribly
Double check the axle ubolt torque. It should be around 100 lbs.

Re: Truck shaking horribly
and check your castor angle, you may need to shim your axle forward to raise the pinion and level the castor.
also check that your king pin springs are still good, mine had settled about a .25" and wernt putting enough preasure on the king pin, add a thick washer to the spring to stiffen it back up. did your tires go back on the say way they came off, swapmers are nitorious for getting out of balance and wear patterns will fawk every thing off if they are reversed. |

Re: Truck shaking horribly
maybe take a run over to www.coloradok5.com/forums sign up, and search for "death wobble" All the causes, and fixes have been gone over a number of times there.

Re: Truck shaking horribly
Are you sure you shocks in the front are still good
Sound to me that when it hits a bump, the shock can't suppress the axle movement fast enough.....thus causing it to shake, and want to walk on you Just my 2 cents Duro |

Re: Truck shaking horribly
Ok, the king pin springs are brand new. i replaced all the king pin parts. um... the caster angle is what the mechanic at my work told me but would that really make it shake horribly like that? i heard that the caster only makes the wheel not turn back correctly. And my shocks are brand new pro comp 9000's. so yea. but im def going to check out coloradok5. thanks guys. but while im still here... do you have anymore suggestions now that i gave you more info? thanks again.

Re: Truck shaking horribly
There are some washers that sometimes need to be put under the king pins or something that is a pretty common issue...
Again, look up Death Wobble on CK5, and you'll be good to go

Re: Truck shaking horribly
Castor angle also affects how stable the wheels/steering is and how responsive they are at speed. If the king pins are not angled back far enough it acts like the wheels on a shopping cart.
