grandfather's 65 fleetside

Here are some pictures of my grandfather's fleetside. He bought it new in 65 and we actually found the owner's manual and protecto plate in the dash. 59000 original miles, but she's in bad shape. Frame off resto in the works, probably going to shorten the wheel base to a short bed. Anyone got any ideas what model car/truck the hood ornament came from???

Re: grandfather's 65 fleetside

If you found that truck in a field somewhere it would be a good find. But it being you grand fathers truck and you knowing the life history of it makes it a treasure. Yeah it needs some work but there is nothing about that truck that can't be bought in some form. Good luck with making it brand new again.

Re: grandfather's 65 fleetside

Where were 60-66 options listed? You know how 67-72 are on the glove box door.
I have a 66 I just bought that might be a little cleaner than that. I feel bad to part it out.

That's gonna be a nice truck: you should keep it longbed.

Re: grandfather's 65 fleetside

....great project...the way ours went on the restoration was 3-years in the doing and that was with help...from a pro at a restoration shop..paint/body..if your doing it at home,be prepaired to have stuff everywhere for quite some time.gather what you need first. leave the truck whole as possable untill your ready to start (optinal) stop whatever decay you have so things don't get worse till you can get to your project .you have a great truck to work with go with a stock look that's always a winner!! have fun...

Those "hood" ornaments actually appear to be
1960 Chev fender ornaments-----optional on the BelAir--Standard on the Impala

............................ Those are periods. There are also comma's. They are very useful when typing or responding to posts. They separate thoughts and sentences and generally make things easier to read. You should try using them.
