Possible Purchase..how much is it worth?

Hey guys. I'm on the hunt for another project and stumbled upon a truck local. Its a 1965 Chevy 1/2 ton, inline 6 and 3 speed manual. Manual brakes and steering, looks pretty basic. Shortbed too. The truck is from Florida and has very little rust. Owner says the tailgate, fenders, and hood have rust. Underside, cab corners, body mounts, rockers, bed, and floors are solid. The body has been soda blasted and shot with DP black primer. Overall it looks straight, interior looks decent. Runs and drives. What do you guys think its worth? He is asking $5800, a bit more then I want to spend but it has very little rust.

Also, quick question, what rear end choices came in these? I'm sure its stock but havent heard back from the seller about it.

Also, are these trucks really light? I checked some figures and it shows they only weighed 3200-3300lbs, is this right?

Truck will get either a mild 355 or a warmed over 454.

Thanks guys
Nick

i'm no expert, but 5800 seems a little high to me.
under 4500 would seem more reasonable... just a guess though

Wow $5800 looks like way too much. I emailed him mentioning the links. I dont think I'd spend more then $2000 on it after seeing the project.

Thanks guys
Nick

I have to agree,$5800.00 may be to much taking into consideration that you want to swap out motors. I would sugest you get one that is not running, or has no motor. There are deals out there, I scored my '60 for $1000.00 in running condition (250 L6 3 speed ) Look around , or flash the guy $3000.00 see if he bites .

Even going by stupidily insane Cal prices, $5,800 is way to high for a $1,500 truck.

I have a perfect running rust bucket that cost me $650. There is no way I'd pay $5800 for that.
