Let me introduce myself, and my '63 C-20 Stepside

It was parked in '83 and hasn't moved since. The body rust is minimal and in the usual California car places, the frame is solid and the interior is nice and original. I plan to restore the interior, get the frame powdercoated, and get it back on the road. I don't plan on touching the exterior. There's a 400 SBC under the hood mated up to a Powerglide - should be fun around town and at the Thursday night drags.

I probably overpaid for it ($460) a bit, but a body with no cancer is worth its weight in gold to me, I absolutely hate doing bodywork. Getting it back on the road and past DMV inspection should be easy.

Any other guys in the LA area? Are there any meets that go on? And no, that's not me in the pic. :p

Re: Let me introduce myself, and my '63 C-20 Stepside

Welcome....

I always love to see old cars resuscitated....

Is that the La Puente dump?? It looks familiar...

I'm in Lakewood near the 91 & 605 freeway.... I don't go to any meets, but would like too after I finish remodeling my restroom.. I have a 64 Feet LongBed and a 55 Chevy Sedan...

It was in a dirt field up a canyon road in Sylmar.

I actually live in Glendora, off the 210.

Hey Serrano, I'm just down the road from you in West Covina. In fact, I was in Glendora earlier today. Welcome to the board!

Re: Let me introduce myself, and my '63 C-20 Stepside

Welcome, there were much less 3/4 ton stepsides built versus 3/4 ton fleetsides. I don't have the production numbers for 63, but for 65, there were 9,872 c20 stepsides produced versus 46,608 c20 fleetsides. It is important to represent other versions of our favorite series once in a while. Also, It looks like you have 15" split rims in front and later model year 16" split rims in back. If a wheel change is in the future, I recommend a set of standard 17.5" or optional 19.5" one piece wheels for a period look.

$460 dont sound bad at all, especially if there is no rust. Good deal in my book. Have fun with it!!
