What did you get done? 02/25

I spent Saturday working on projects on the computer. I did research for my trip to Denver on Spring break. That took up a lot more time than I expected.

I took my wife's Denali to get the oil changed and tires rotated. While I was out I dropped by the new car dealer and took a test drive.

This thing had a 6.2 litre motor with a 6 speed transmission that you could paddle shift. It had a really nice exhaust rumble and would really set you back in the seat when launched.

What was it? An 07 Denali XL! This thing is a hot rod by all standards. If you didn't know you were in an AWD SUV, you would swear it was a sports car. They are very impressive.

Today I watched by daughter play in a volleyball tournament. They swept their pool...

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 02/25

Paint my 350 along with all the bracket for the engine (bracket are painted with a bed liner paint to give it a semi gloss textured look to it) also painted the headers (cause they looked like crap next to the motor and if the paint comes of o well). Took the transmission to my tranny guy to get it rebuilt (should be done by end this week).

Other then that nothing just watched it snow and get even madder at weather cause snow slows me down even more.

Re: What did you get done? 02/25

In the last 7 days I must have fielded 15 offers on the trucks, got a couple that seem serious. Gonna be a lot of cell phone minutes used in the next few days.

Otherwise, I worked 31 hours in the last four days, nothing else has touched my life, except serious truck withdrawals, but I'm almost over it. I think.

I installed my cheap ebay mirrors . Rinsed the trucks off and took a couple pics . I posted a Pics of My trucks post . Me and my sons did a little target shooting . 9mm Taurus . we also spent a couple hours this afternoon exploring the woods on our property . The boys had never been so deep in the brush on our property . It was nice today so we grilled outside for lunch and dinner . Frank

Helped a friend install a heater in his garage Sat, Sunday was spent shoveling 12 inches of snow and raking the roof....then shoveling again since it snowed again after I finished the first time!

I love the paddle shift. My friend bought an audi last year w/ the 6 sp paddle shift, I had the tires worn down by the time we got back from our "beverage" run. They are a blast!

Re: What did you get done? 02/25

I got my Hooker headers installed this week on the 85LWB. I got the rest of the exhaust welded Saturday morning. Hookers are bigger than Flowtechs I've used in the past. I now have to get a mini starter for the increased clearance. The Magnaflows are really quiet with the 2.25 pipe dumped at the axle. I hope to get the mini starter installed next weekend.

Re: What did you get done? 02/25

well, saturday i worked most of the day, but friday i got a lot done on the car, i bought it last sunday night, i gapped the plugs to specs a couple days before friday, and friday i cleaned the IAC, adjusted the tps, cleaned the MAF, today i cleaned the TB, it now idle's a whole lot better, and i think i got just one or two more things to do on it, the tag is out so i haven't got to really drive it other then when i picked it up, i am planning on sandblasting, and primering the door when i start bodywork, and that is about all, a kid i went to high school with also asked me if i wanted to sell my truck, so if i can make time in the next few weeks to put it all back together i may have it sold, i plan on getting another motor for it, and still haven't recieved my tranny for it, so i'll need to find a tranny , but i think i have both of those covered, i figure i will get one of the motors from a buddy of mine, and put gaskets in it, and rebuild the heads, and put it in there, and either get a tranny from the same guy, or get one from the pull-a-part, but anyways i need to get it together so i can get it sold and out of my yard

Re: What did you get done? 02/25

Absolutely nothing done on my GMC...

I did finalize the deal on my 5.3L, and tore my quad to bits though!

Maybe next week I'll finish off my interior restoration project, and post a few pics...

Replaced the factory clutch fan and shroud with a 16" electric puller, aluminum shroud & Be Cool controller. Can't believe the difference, wish I'd done it long ago. Also pulled the evap system out since it wasn't hooked up to anything.

Re: What did you get done? 02/25

I cleaned up the garage a bit, did some grinding on the '70 frame for the new drop xmem, put new rallys on the Blazer and built a PC for my buddy.

I really need put the '73 aside so I can get moving on the '70 build if im going to bring it to the meet!

Re: What did you get done? 02/25

Friday night I tore out the complete frone suspension and steering components. I have the PST bushing set and all new inner and outer tie rods, pitman arm, idler arm that I am going to install. Saturday I cleaned up the arms and was able to disassembel the upper a arms. I also sand blasted almost everything except the lower a-ams. Today I will disassemble the lowers and get them blasted. Hopefully I will start powder coating today! If all goes as planned I will order the spindles and springs by the end of the week! Here are a few pics of what I started with! UGLY!!
