What did you get done, 3/11/7 edition

IIRC, Ken is traveling with his family to watch his daughter play in a V-ball tournament...so lets get rollin without him. (good luck BTW Ken!)

I did not get much done this weekend truck wise. I did play with the 1-piece window kit a little, ended up giving up frustrated...need to come back with a cooler head and spend some more time on it.

I did push Yeller out of the garage since it was in the upper 40's, and have some pics to share. I have not posted any updated shots with the bed on and doors installed...so here they are.

I should be getting the fenders and hood back from the body sho soon, when that happens, they will go on the truck and the complete paintjob will follow shortly after that.

What did everyone else get done??

Re: What did you get done, 3/11/7 edition

first off nice truck.

My weekend was fun even with a cold i got my beast up and running after about 2 months of not driving something with a&* behind it. It was nice to hope in and turn the key and fire right up drove it up and down my road and some on the street. (it nice to live in the country were u can drive a truck with no hood crack windshield no inspection no county stick adn not insured and no one care. heck iv drove a truck straight throught now with no nothing for an exausht meaning no header manifolds or pipes. It great in the country)

Only problem with truck is the leaking tranny fluid (stupid seals and power steering pump)

Got my $200 score 70’s era Hickey Sidewinder winch bolted on today. Now I just need to figure out how the heck to wire up the freaky relay pack to make this sucker work.

I could use a Hickey Sidewinder instruction manual if anybody has one laying around.

Re: What did you get done, 3/11/7 edition

replaced all the vacuum line under the hood. The old hose was gross, brittle, cracked, and in some places like bubble gum.
Mowed the back yard, drank some beer with the neighbors, had a small cookout tonight. Weather here has been perfect.

Re: What did you get done, 3/11/7 edition

I installed a set of 'Buddy Buckets' in my 68. I had to make some 'S' shaped adapters for the pass side seat & I made them from the same scrap steel I made my shock brackets from (that scap steel is really coming in handy lately ).

I installed the seats because I'm still trying to decide on how I'm going to route my air gauges & switches. Previously I just had the controller wrapped in a shop rag & tucked under the pass side of the bench seat. Since I'm re-doing the truck (& upgrading to 4whl bags), I figure something a little more 'up-scale' is warranted.

Not much..... but it was nice to work out in the driveway undisturbed and the weather was great!

Re: What did you get done, 3/11/7 edition

Well, actually it was a pretty busy day (Saturday)...

Pathfinder:
  • Replaced front sway bar links and bushings
  • Changed oil
  • Replaced 4 yr. old BFG All Terrain TA (31x 10.5) with new ones

Chevy:
  • Installed used BFG's (from Pathfinder)

That's about it. Here's a photo of the truck - tires are a little dirty and forgive the rust.

Re: What did you get done, 3/11/7 edition

hey, I had a fair weekend for me. I installed the power steering gearbox, p/s pump, bled the system (works fine). Installed the anti sway bar up front, P/u inner fender wells and pulled my old one on the battery side, thats the only rust i've found on the whole rig. Need to order the battery tray and support tomorrow. Oh the power steering pump pulley is off about 1/8 to 1/4" but it doesn't seem to be a prob. Can't really see how to adjust. Thanks for reading, Tyjoja

Re: What did you get done, 3/11/7 edition

Went into work saturday. Dident get much done there except my own stuff. Cleaned up some spare engine brackets for the BB and got a new dipstick tube. Went out and did some riding today for about an hour then went home and cleaned the bike up a tad, 4 hours! Next weekend if all goes well the truck will have it's new engine. Of course next weekend if it's really nice I might take the bike for a cruise up into the mountains and get lost for a few days instead.

Sat on my ass, hung out with friends, and enjoying spring break. Been looking at the classifieds everyday for another 73-87 truck.

I drove 675 miles over the weekend to purchase a Jeep Cherokee for my new D/D. Why so far you may wonder, The price was half of market value.

Lookin good Jeff!

I cleaned up around the shop quite a bit and put up a few more sheets of insulation on the ceiling. I've gotta get rid of a few more things before the 87 will fit in there with the sierra....

Holding out on us, eh Jeff. Truck is looking real good. Dig the shots with straight panels in primer and without the front clip, showing off the engine.

I haven't done much to the truck other than keeping it clean. I gotta get back on it. I did take a look at some bikes (bicycles). My current one is wearing out. I got over 3k miles over the past year on it with only one hard crash. (Ice patches are sure slick.)
