anyone tried 'new' 6 bolt wheels on 65 era trucks?
I was at the salvage yard today and was wondering if anyone had tried the 'new' looking 6 bolt wheels on the old 65 era trucks. My 65 gms has the 6 bolt pattern, and i was thinking of swapping a 73 susp with 5 bolt. But if i can just buy 16" 6 bolt wheels, why not go with that?

shouldn't be a problem. My dad is getting a new set for his 66. Just make sure you re-torque the nuts at 500mi. if the wheels are not steel. Good luck!

better watch out on this, I have a friend who bought late model Chevy 6lug 16inch wheels for his 65 chevy P/U & not only did he have to put a 1/2inch spacer behind the wheel so the tie rods wont rub BUT even after doing that when he would turn his wheels all the way to the to 1 side or the other the tires or wheels would rub the control arms...thats because of the offset that the wheel has or lack of, look at the wheels there is almost NO OFFSET on the late model truck shock mag type wheel..joe

if you go to where you want to purchase your wheels, they should look up your yr of vehicle and order them to fit with no problems.

Hmmm....
ralleys from 6 lug 73-87 blazers or 6 lug 4x4's work well....My girlfreind has them on her 63, I have them on my 68.
I heard that the newer ralleys would not fit.

2Many 2Count is right there is not enough offset in the wheels,I tried installing a set on a 55 and they would not fit,the lug pattern is the same but not enough clearance on the inside. All of the 70's-80's rally wheels will fit the 6 lug trucks from the 40's - mid 80's

I have a set of Eagle Wheel Style 219 on my 65 SWB. They are 18X8 with 235/40/18 Tires. I would like to sell them for some new 20's and 22's so if you interested let me know. I paid 1650 for them brand new and would let them go for $1000. I just got the truck running and havent even put 100 miles on them yet.

If you are talking about *90's* 6 bolt rims they will not fit the bolt pattern is different from the 60's style 6 bolt. I also thought of this idea till i did some measuring and realized the bolt pattern & centre hole was differnt.
