Help!! Headers for BBC in '56 truck / '79 camaro clip?

Help! I'm about to install a big block chevy in my 1979 camaro clipped 1956 shortbed. I've heard a lot of different things, but as of yet have not been able to nail down a pair of headers that will *without a doubt* fit my application. Any help? Please respond or email me if you can help!!!

If the engine is bolted in the stock location on the Camaro subframe, wouldn't camaro headers fit? I done a small block '79 T/A stub in a '50 a long time ago along with a firewall master cylinder, and didn't have any problems.

I put a C10 front end on mine and used C10 headers. As far as I know its the clip that determines the header provided the engine is located in the clips stock postion as stated above.

Right, but '79 camaro's / firebirds didn't have big blocks in them originally... My problem is finding an after market set that I can trust to fit...

I know some of the Firebird from the mid 70's had 455 big block in them. Here's a set from Summit Racing.

Headers from Patriot.

Make CHEVROLET
Model CAMARO
Beginning Year 1967
Ending Year 1981
Engine Type V8
Engine Size 7.4L/454
Engine Family Chevy big block Mark IV

And here's a link to all of the Big Block headers sold at Summit for Camaros.

Nice. I'll look into Summit ASAP. Can I assume that i need a set of BBC motor mounts for a 73 (and thus 79) camaro as well?

Re: Help!! Headers for BBC in '56 truck / '79 camaro clip?

I'm still in the mock-up and fabrication stage right now, but a set of 67-69 Camaro BBC headers fits my truck perfectly. My truck is a '55 with a '70 Camaro clip. A set of 70-81 BBC Camaro headers should fit perfectly also.

Awesome. Thinking about going with these:

Next question: what kind of motor mounts do i need to use? Camaro mounts or 1977 truck (the donor of the BBC) mounts???

Thanks for the help!

Use the Camaro mounts. That's the beauty of Chevrolets; lots of stuff will interchange between small blocks and big blocks ( motor mounts, distributors, transmissions). Can't do that with a Ford or Dodge.

Awesome. So SBC mounts will work on a BBC?

I don't know where I would be without y'all.
