My graduation present
I know in my poll thread everyone said to do bodywork but the day before my graduation ceremony my truck died and because of that i couldn't drive it to my graduation. It was linked back to the carb and that made up my mind.

Sounds like how I've had ours setup.
Glad to see ya can get some good burnouts out of it. You must have her tuned pretty good on the carb mix and timing, else it wouldn't lay rubber very well.

the only thing i adjusted on the carb was the idle speed
one of my mechanic buddies and i ripped her down the road adjusting the timing to get it set right and i think i have here pretty good. I could get it even better if i tune the air/fuel mix and change the rods, jets, and springs but it runs good enough for me.

I wouldn't change rods, jets or springs, I never did.
Only thing you gotta do is adjust the idle mixtures screws on the front, that way it don't run too rich or lean and burn it up or kill plugs and what lil' fuel mileage you may have LOL. My 350 is got alot of bolt on and work and I didn't change jets or rods. or anything. I read the book and it's like do this and that and if it does this or that you need to change jets, or rods, or springs, mine does none of it so it must be right. You guys time em like me and my old man does, turn it, drive it, turn it again, drive it again lol. Way I see it as long as she doesn't ping on WOT, starter drag, or run hot, she's timed about perfect.

An Edelbrock 650 right out of the box will always be on the rich side on a stock small block. Not bad enough to kill power, but just enough to waste gas. Mine always got 10-12 MPG no matter how you drove it or how loaded down you were, as long as you didn't open the secondaries.

Like Pyro said, they are jetted rich. They've got 95's and 98's from the factory, and I went to 92's and 95's. It's running just about perfect with these. Only thing I noticed was that it ran a little rougher when the engine was cold, so I'm guessing that I'll have to rejet in the winter next year.

No you don't - have you looked at th cost for tuition these days? I pay over $700/credit and all I make goes for school bills and my truck sits in the carport and gets taken out only on Sunday afternoon for a short 5-mile trip

well you could always go in the army. they'll pay 100% of your tuition while on active duty plus you can get upto 65K for college.
