What gap??
What sparkplug gap do you guys recommend running in a verry warm 385? The cam isn't too big, but it's not too small either. It's a crane energizer 274 with .454 lift and something like 212 duration at .50. The compression is about 10.2-1. I have been running the standard .32? for a sbc, but was wondering if it needed more for the extra ci and compression. Any ideas?

Im running a recurved HEI with hot coil & module. The autolite platinums are gapped @ .042(9.8 to 1 383), the specs are in my signature.....

OK. I forgot to mention that I also hava a MSD 6AL box. I thought that a wider gap would be a little better, but I was a little unsure. My hei is also recurved do delay the advance a bit. So a little larger gap is the way to go?

With the MSD box, I would go a little wider.....i cant say for sure how much, but would think about .050, & just play with the gap till she runs the best. Im runnin Accel pcs, & seem to run fine @ .042- .045.......the hotter the spark, the more you can open the gap. Good luck.....crazy AL

I would try .045 ,thats what I run on a hei .

yea i agree with crazy longhorn try somethin around .050. .032 is way too small of a gap for an hei dizzy. u should actaulyl have a noticeable increase in power just from changing the gap but u might wanna get spark plugs that already have at least a .045 gap to start with

Thanks for the info guys. Thats what I was wanting to hear. I thought the gap was too small, but I just wanted make sure before I regapped them.

Running a 350 (360 now) with an HEI.
Had R44-TS plugs gapped at .035. Swapped them out for R45-TS at .045. Is this a good thing? The rear plug on the passenger side was gunked up big time. Have been told it's from the additives in the gas. Is this correct? Thanks |

r45ts I'm running are gapped at .045 and I just run the regular hei... I dont have all those other goodies...yet
