Re: bagged truck need headers that clear!! help!!

Pretty sure these will be what you're after, they're 3/4 length chevelle headers. The ebay seller is a standup group, I've purchased many things from them. I've got a set of stainless longtubes for our trucks from these guys, the quality and price can't be beat.

I just put headman shorties on my 86. They fit great and you should have plenty of room for ground clearance. I got them from summit racing.

Pretty sure they're above the frame, I'll check this evening and snap a pic. They tuck higher than any other longtube I've run by probably 2-3".

Re: bagged truck need headers that clear!! help!!

I don't see why ANY listed shorty or mid length headers ANYONE sells that fits your year truck with your motor, say sbc 283-400 and 73-87 1/2 ton 2wd, or whatever they have it listed as, wouldn't fit.

I mean a shorty header, most don't even come past the oil pan let alone the frame rails, you run your pipes as close to the floor as you want after that.

no one makes a shorty header specific to my application. (its all camaro headers that fit. is what i am told but the local rod shop wont give me a part number and i cant return them if they dont fit) its actually a 78 blazer, but i wasnt getting any help in the blazer forum. and i have long tubes on it now. with it being Z'ed up front 3 1/2in they are barely above the stock frame rails. now that i am body dropped they are 1 1/2in below the frame.
thanks for all the info so far !!

The ones you want are 3/4 length for a Chevelle for SBC.
This is the PN for the black coated ones: WLK-85118
This is the PN for the ceramic coated ones: WLK-86118

Re: bagged truck need headers that clear!! help!!

summits got hedman elite shorties.ceramic.heavy flange, ball and socket collector.just ask for 73-87 c 10 2 wd.thats what i did.anyway ,lownfast.here's a couple of pics.the passenger side is under tranny cross.i'm not sure why the dude did it that way,but i'm sure he had a reason.he does good work,i just stuck headers on there and took it to the shop for flowmasters and custom dual.i did notch the frame on pass. side when motor torqued it rubbed header.pretty tight on that spot.,you can see it in the pic's.the one underneath shot's blurry but you get the idea.hope that helps.

Re: bagged truck need headers that clear!! help!!

I have a set of Hedman 69648 Elite shorties for my 68. They should work well with the 73-87's. I really like these headers, 3/8" flanges, ball flange collecters, and 5 yr warranty on the thermal coating.
