How to lower my 91 sub 1/2 ton

Guys, I am new to the forum and need some advice. I want to lower my 91 suburban 1/2 ton 4" in frt and 6" in back. What is the best way? I don't want air bags, but will change the spindles. What is the most complete kit out there. Which kit works the best. I only want to run a slightly bigger rim. maybe 17", I don't like the big wagon wheels.

1st off you the new set of spindles I have, I will take $175 plus the shipping. Then you will need some drop springs for the front. On the rear you will probably want a flip kit for it. Hope this helps.

bonehead,... You will need all the drop stuff a pickup uses. (73-87) Your front rotors should be 1.25" wide,... but they do make a 1" wide version. Most front spindles are available in a 2.5" or 3" drop for your application. Then just choose the drop front spring to get you the desired drop. You will also need drop shocks front and rear. I lowered a '91 suburban years ago and used a drop leaf spring on the back (4" drop,... I think) and it worked perfectly. A flip kit on a suburban get the rear axle center section really close to the floor. A rear frame notch will also be required with the flip kit. Remember,... Make sure to order parts for the 73-87 trucks only,... because a '91 pickup is completely different. Good luck! I'll try to post a pic of my old 'burb if I can find it.

Thanks, for the input. I like the pic of your suburban. I don't want mine any lower than that. I think yours looks about right to my eye.

So your was done with what combination of parts. Drop spindles 3" ? and lowered arch rear springs? Or what combination of parts exactly. What company supplied the components? Sorry for all the questions but I want to do it right the first time without spending unnecessary money. thanks,

Belltech 3" drop spindles, 2" drop springs, and belltech nitro drop shocks front and rear. The rear leafs were from Chisolm Industries (in California) . I believe they were 4" drop. I think they are out of business now. I would check with Western chassis or DJM. Make sure you get the correct length leaf spring. I think the make a 52" and a 56" spring for these year trucks. This thing road great. I took the whole family to the Bristol night race in Bristol TN,(NASCAR) right after I lowered it. Then was a daily driver for a couple years before I sold it. Call someone like Stylin Concepts to help you with the parts. Make sure they know it's the old square body style, so they won't get confused. I use to tell the parts houses and mail order places it was a 1987,... just to make sure I got the right parts. Good Luck!
