Re: 200,000

The truck in my avatar has rolled the speedo twice and is running around 219,000--however it has had a few motors in it--in the pursuance of horsepower (my choice). The truck, frame and drivelines are solid and dependable.

Viry nice. My old '81 is pushing 350,000 on the original drivetrain with a tranny rebuild at 210,000.

Actually they do. Well, the motors anyway.I have had quiet a few GM trucks with well over 200k on the original motor. The best one to date was the 96 we just sold that had 420k on it and the motor had never been touched.

Malo83- Congrats on getting your moneys worth...

Re: 200,000

I am o ne of those guys that doesn't own a low mileage vehicle, right now. The wife's 95 Impala SS has over 150,000 miles, my Saturday night special was my DD in the past (84 GMC Sierra) and as I stated the mileage is over 200,000 and my present DD (91 Silverado original engine--rebuilt tranny) has 230,000 on it and running strong. There are great motors out there and GM is behind a lot of them. I have a replacement 91 Vette TPI motor with the tuned port upgrade sitting in the garage waitng for the DD to give up the ghost, but at 20 MPG, I am waiting for it to go the full distance. I also believe in putting friction reducers in my oil and that MAY have some bearing on long llife here. My Son's truck had a m otor in it that had the crank shaft fail (the crank had a factory flaw in the metal and broke just behind the timing chain gear) at 140,000 miles and when the engine was torn down, the wear on the internal parts was minimal. He now has over 30,000 on the next install.
