Rear End Interchange

If my information is correct, 55-57 pickups used a six bolt axle, Hotchkiss rear housing, which the center section was removable like a 9" Ford. This is similar to or the same as the one used on most full size passenger 55-64. So the question, are truck to passenger center sections interchangeable, and are the axle splines different or the same. If you know the spline count and lengths of the trucks, then I can cross check it versus what I know about the passenger car components. My intention is to add a different center section from a truck to my collection with intention to add it to my 64 Impala at some point in time. Anyone familiar with this crossover??

Talking I hate to zero "zero" replies

LIL RED,

I don't like to see it when no one replies in these forums! So I will at least give you as much help as I can.

Visit this link : http://www.drivetrain.com/ and then either email or call them with your questions.

They were very helpful to me in I.D.'g my 10 bolt under my 57.
