motor mounts
the other night i was backing my truck into a spot and the truck seemed to slam into reverse, and when i would goose it to get it to move the whole motor seemed to be slamming around, so anyway today my buddy came over and he had not seen the truck before so i took him out there to see it and we were looking it over and i decided to check the motor mounts.. Ive never seen motormounts in such bad shape.. they were almost completely gone.. the rubber inside i mean
guess its time for a new set.. Is one brand better than the others? or should i just get the ones from the auto parts they offer for cheapies? At some point ill prolly post pics of them

Re: motor mounts
I never had a problem from the ones at the auto parts store. they cost me like $15 for the pair. That's what I always get. Good luck!

Re: motor mounts
i looked briefly on an online store and they say the standard type is $8.98 each and they have energy absorbing ones for like $26.99 each. i guess those are polyurethane? theres no advantage to them?
Im gonna go as cheap as i can i guess the cheapies are the same as the OEM type? I know all the mounts for small blocks are the same so there is no problem when i upgrade to a 350

Re: motor mounts
the front mount on my '01 passat is bad. i need to replace it asap but keep putting it off.
for a stock application, the rubber ones will work just fine. i've got poly mounts in my truck though. |

Re: motor mounts
They're probably polyurethane. Polyurethane is a lot stiffer than rubber, usually used in performance applications. I had a set in an old mustang I had, and mostly what I noticed is it transfers more vibration to the frame, and to you. Its a step between rubber mounts, and solid metal mounts used in racing. So after that I went back to the stockers and liked them much better. Usually on a daily driver the only thing I like polyurethane on is a sway bar. Good luck!
