I'm not sure of this but try grounding the motor to the body. It may not have any thing to do with it, I can't remember if they ground through the wiring or not or ground from one of the mounting bolts.

i've tried to touch a scap piece of wire to each terminal from the batterie but nothing happened. this led me to believe that it either had to be grounded or all the wires had to be connected. so i connected all the wires but didn't remount the motor, because it's a pain in the a$$ with an ac cab. but that didn't work either. any other thoughts?

wiper motor
You don't need to ground the motor. the power runs from the fuse block through the motor to the switch and when you turn the switch it goes to ground. hope this helps.

The switch can switch on power, or complete a ground, as it is doing in the wiper circuit. Wiper motor gets power at all times. On our series motors, there are 3 possible combinations, plus washer operation. For you techies, here are the combinations:
Park and off = lt blue and black connedted, (not grounded0 low speed = lt blue and black grounded high speed = lt blue grounded washer = dark blue grounded
